60,000-liter vertical pressure tanks for a tank terminal at the Maasvlakte
CTC Tankbouw has supplied four of a total of six vertical pressure tanks, each with a capacity of 60,000 liters, for a tank terminal at the Maasvlakte in Rotterdam. The remaining two tanks will follow.
The pressure vessels are designed and constructed in accordance with the European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) 2014/68/EU and the EN 13445 standard, with a design pressure of -1/+10 barg. This means that the tanks can safely withstand both a full vacuum and an overpressure of 10 bar. The tanks are made of P355, a fine-grained structural steel specifically intended for pressure vessels that maintains its strength even at greater wall thicknesses.
The Maasvlakte is a salty, industrial environment. For this reason, the tanks are coated on the outside with a C5-High coating system—the highest corrosion severity class—to ensure a long service life with minimal maintenance.
In addition, the tanks are equipped with the necessary platforms, spiral staircases, and cage ladders, all in full compliance with EN 14122, the standard for safe access to installations. This ensures that the tanks can be safely operated, inspected, and maintained.
